Archival Scans for The Ocarina of Time 4koma by Kobunsha

Here are the 600dpi scans posted on archive.org

I've started scanning the 26ish volumes of Legend of Zelda 4-Koma and I'm actually going to post large versions of it, which I usually don't do, but it's only because I think the chances of it having a market to be republished are pretty slim. I'm trying to make sure I support publishers but, also, it's a shame something disappears because it's been unavailable for decades so I'm trying to figure out the balance there.

Any translations will be posted to this Flickr album for now.

I am super sad these never got popular. They're so awesome! I've had small scans of most of the pages on historyofhyrule.com since 2002-2004 and I haven't even seen so much as a meme from them. And they are so meme worthy! Only 1 out of roughly 26 Zelda 4komas have been translated so, if you would like to translate this, even just sections of it, please go ahead and let me know!

If you use these pages please always link back to the main website though, so people can find more information and rare materials, or even help me find more!

Here are examples and info on the other 4koma, they're for the games LttP, LA, OoT, MM, WW, OoA, and OoS. I will be scanning them all in the coming weeks: Here's what you can expect to see.

Indie Zelda and Louisa's Comics!

Blast from the past: If you use to visit History of Hyrule back in the day you probably remember IndieZelda.com, or Independent Zelda, the fan comic site run by one of my best Zelda & artist friends, Louisa Roy. You may know her as SomeGirl or Om Nom Berries too. She is an awesome fanartist and person, and ran an incredible forum where a bunch of Zelda webmasters hid out... hung out? ..probably both. She fuled a lot of our creativity and humor and helped keep me sane. I've known her for about as long as I've known anyone on the internet. We met on one of the first forums I ever joined.

Anyway, I adore her, she's still around doing her thing, making comics, and she sent me these Zelda doujinshi she created back then so I could preserve them on the web! I am so excited about this! So I got 4 series of hers, of vastly varying length, posted on archive.org last night.

Be sure to check out her new stuff. She has a lot of other incredible Zelda comics and is doing Star Wars and other original comics as well. That link goes to her link tree.

The Legend of Zelda: The Dark Mirror is a 5 part comic for Ocarina of Time

A Space for Us Among the Clouds is a roughly 36 page comic for Skyward Sword

Her Twilight Princess Series is 5 parts, just under 130 pages, and features the stories: Beautiful Midnight, Hello Time Bomb, Symbolistic White Walls, and Alert Status Red

And this volume was made for the 25th anniversary of the series, it features stories for A Legend of Zelda fan comic for The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess.

Love ya, Louisa!

German Ocarina of Time Comics and the Scanlations

This is nothing new but apparently it became difficult to find on the internet so I was asked to upload it. Sure enough I couldn't find the originals with a reverse image search, either on Google or TinEye. (But I'm sure it's out there somewhere still. Someone probably has full copies of the whole magazines posted.) The original-language scans I have were downloaded from ZeldaEurope.de, which no longer has them online, but is a site I traded art with a lot back-in-the-day so I hope they don't mind me reposting them. For English translations of part 1-2 you can head to this page on zeldalegends.net and for English translations of part 3-4 you can find them on Miloscat's Flickr album. A reverse image search will lead you to translations for several other languages though. Like Spanish, French, and Italian.

A little more information on this comic can be found near the bottom of the page, here, but basically it's Copyright: 1998 by Nintendo of Europe GmbH and Nintendo Co. Ltd, Published in Club Nintendo OoT Special. Comic Art: Work House Co. Ltd., Tokyo

Just added: High Res Scans of the Ocarina of Time 4-koma Manga by Kobunsha

This is The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 4Koma Gag Battle; an anthology published on April 10, 1999 by Koubunsha. ISBN4-334-80450-0 and released in Japan only. It's roughly 127 pages, with the first few being in color. I had originally added small scans to the site way back in the early 2000's when Anastasia sent them to me but I'm super happy to finally make larger, flat, archival scans. Since I don't think these will ever be republished, once I'm done making scans of all the out-of-print manga and novels, I'll be doing a nicer editing job on them and uploading anything that is still long out of print to archive.org

Spanish Scanlations of the Promotional Ocarina of Time Himekawa Manga

These are so well done that I'm in awe. Find all of the pages on one of their sites at either MangaDexLectortmo, or Facebook and be sure to follow them!

Didakos, of the Spanish-language scanlation team, Ghosty Guys, contacted me a little while back asking for help finding better scans for the Cagiva Link's Awakening manga and to ask if they could translate the LA and LttP scans Miloscat and Ragey had made, as well as this OoT manga that was originally translated from Chinese to English by Onichild of ZeldAnime. They just finished it and have done such a spectacular job with it that I can't wait to see what they do next! Seriously though, their editing of the complex images for the SFX and text bubbles seem spotless. Someone hire these guys professionally!

No Clip: Amazing resource for screen captures, textures, and art reference.

I'm late to the party and am mostly just posting this here so I don't forget about it again- because it's too amazing. If you need to see a level, or reference a texture, from any of the earlier 3D zelda games, check out noclip.website. It really is a museum. So far it has Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Windwaker, Majora's Mask 3D, Ocarina of Time 3D, and Ocarina of Time N64. Thank you so much for creating this, Jasper! I needed to remember a detail on a level in Skyward Sword, a game I can't play because the motion controls cause nerve damage in my arms, and it allowed me to get right to it!

Gallery Update: Ocarina of Time Gallery mostly complete!

I've been bad about updating here and I'm making an effort to change that starting now since I'm seeing how much the backlog piles up. Lots up updates are getting posted today.

Oot! This is, by far, the most complete & highest-rez official art gallery for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ever online. I spent so much time tracking down the highest quality images & cleaning up saves and scans. Find it here! I have a few maps from the Versus guide left to add, and I will probably come back and add a single render for each character and enemy, for reference, as well as a few more pieces of Himekawa art, 4koma art, sage symbols, and I may redo some of the Hyrule Histora images. Most of all: Let me know if I'm missing anything.

A note: While most of the official art gallery borrows heavily from the incredible work people have done archiving things on Wiki's, they can still be quite hard to navigate and the sections aren't always interconnected. Like Impa art may only be under a small sub directory of Impa, not in the gallery for the character or a game. It can still be pretty hard to track down an image on them even when you know what you are looking for. Some of these images don't even come up on reverse searches even though they've been uploaded for ages. I also do as much work as I can myself, (and many of these same wiki's have used hundreds of my guide and book scans for the past 20 years, I really do try not to take from places that haven't benefited from my work as well) but we all have access to different things so it really is a joint project, preserving this stuff for people to find and people look for things in different ways. Wikis are incredible for information and holding on to art anyone can add but the point of the gallery on History of Hyrule site is a little different. It's purely easy-access image archival, so people can have quick viewing access to find what they need for their project and to learn what is out there. I am also trying to encourage back traffic back to the wikis if people want transparent PNGs.

New Doujinshi Added: Together + Bonus Comic

I totally forgot to post that I had added this back before I went in for surgery. It's another wonderful doujinshi, called "Together," by Usagi Paradise (Misa) with a guest appearance by Minato. It's one of the rare ones for Spirit Tracks, but it also features Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess: Link's Crossbow Training. There is also a Smash Brothers bonus comic that came with it. Enjoy!

Slowed Down Again, but Still Running!

So, I'm back to working on stuff for the site, but the day the new Himekawa manga "came out" and was translated by Zeldanime, I had a bit of an emergency with one of my pets. She almost bled to death and was barely saved by the emergency vet. I've had to spend the last few days with her, checking on her almost non-stop, to make sure her beak injury didn't re-open and start bleeding again. Which at least has been an enjoyable task, because it's fun to hang with her- but it explains the slowdown in replying about the contest and posting the new entries. Let alone getting more translations posted.

I also have a surgery (unrelated to my arm) at the end of this week, on the 5th, so I don't know how soon I'll be back after that.

So, I'll still be doing stuff for the site and replying, I just wanted to let people know what any delays might be about.

Don't forget though! New participation prize :3 Get your entries in by the end of October at a chance to win this one! Contest info can be found here.

Also, head over to our Tumblr if you enjoy fanart, and join us on Facebook for even more fun updates.

New OoT Himekawa Comic (Updates)

Update: Zeldanime got one page translated, I don't know if they need more translation help but, if you can translate Chinese, it might not hurt to contact them. (or on Facebook

Update 2! They're definitely translating the rest! Should be in English before long :) Follow them, I'm going to be out for a while.

Okay! I'm on a real computer now, let's post about this bit of awesomeness.
Thanks Feri-san, who found this before anyone else! And Mases for the extra info!

So, this Akira Himekawa manga was possibly commissioned for the Hong Kong release of Ocarina of Time 3D. It's 15 pages long, (16 with the intro page,) in Chinese (Han, if you wish to translate it) and you can find the pdf on Nintendo's official site Nintendo.tw/zelda

It's not their best work, but there are some amazing pictures in it of all the main characters.
Pages below! Click to enlarge!

(Edit: Sorry, they were originally posted out of order. The new blogger admin panel is weird and, even though I tried to fix it in the html, the changes wouldn't take. So I had to redo it by hand to get them in the right order)

Akira Himekawa's original blog post about it:
