Fanwork Templates

I'm going to post each one in a comment below... I think. These will be so staff can just copy and paste when they're making a new thread.

There is some leeway. You can use your best judgement if you think something would work better if it were done a bit differently.

Please ask if you are unclear on anything!

Just so you know:
  • Delete any line you don't have info for.
  • Add lines for other appropriate information
  • A "***" usually means "fill in the blank"
  • Turn your signature off in each of these threads!
  • Use the Not a Member account in the bio threads when there is no member account. (Number 194) See code below:

Code:
Forum Account: [url=http://melorasworld.com/zelda/theforest/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=194][b]Not a Member[/b][/url]

:!: When you post a thread, be aware that if you don't wait for it to load on it's own, it will give you an extended link, like this:
http://melorasworld.com/zelda/theforest/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=275&p=495#p495
Instead of this:
http://melorasworld.com/zelda/theforest/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=275
So, if you need to link to JUST that thread, not that specific post only, make sure to take off that extra bit at the end isn't there in the url you use.

The "Bio" Section
Flag images can be found here: http://melorasworld.com/enth_admin/flags/

The templates for the Bio headers are uploaded here: (or you can have me make them)
(The bio headers always need to be 290px high- but if the artist's best work isn't wide enough to fill the 652px wide space- then you can bring the edges of the image in. NEVER make them wider than that though. When needed, you can also change the dark and light colors used for the fonts and border.)
Here is a blank PNG you can work with: http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/ra ... _blank.png
The normal .psd: http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/ra ... 52x290.psd
The fanfic .psd just had a quill and ink image in it: http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/ra ... fanfic.psd

Thread titles should be "Artist: Name"
(Or "Author: Name" for people like TML who ONLY write.)

And, if you did get the information sent to you by an official source, just delete that last line.

The Illustration and Painting Museum Section

If you think images should be grouped together in one thread, because they fit together and you think being together will get them more comments: then that is fine.

Just so you know:
  • Remember- name the works with the artist's identifying name, then an underscore, then the title: melora_fountain -that info is in the Staff Info Thread viewtopic.php?f=26&t=36
  • Use the Keywords: at the bottom of each thread if you have time, like: "Link, Majora's Mask, MM, Clock," (etc..) If you don't have time, just forget about it. They're not the biggest deal (more for google searches.) Someone can always come back later and add them too, if they want.
  • You do not have to include the critique line if the artist has not let you know which they prefer.
  • And, a "duh" moment: If an image is larger than the "normal" file, but for some reason you think it's not obvious enough that: you can add something like a " :steargreen: Click to Enlarge! " between the info and the image. Example

FanART template: No Thumbnail WITH a "normal" image linking to the larger image. Example: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=80
(If there is no larger image to link to, then just delete the first set of "url" tags that are around the first sent of "img" tags)

Thread titles should be "Artist Name: Piece Title"

Code:
[center][table600][centertxt][url=***large image url***][img]***normal_image url***[/img][/url]

FanART template with ONE Large ALT Image. Example: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=81
(there can be only 1 large alt image, otherwise, use thumbnails)

Thread titles should be "Artist Name: Piece Title"

Code:

FanART template 5 Thumbnails. Example: (with 3) viewtopic.php?f=12&t=76

Thread titles should be "Artist Name: Piece Title"

Sketch-Dump Template
(Only post approximately 10 image in each thread. Duplicate the image and description code for each new image, I only posted the code for 2 below.)

Thread titles should be Artist Name: Sketch Dump Thread (#) Example: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=43
(Replace the # with a real number: it means is it their sketch dump thread 1 or 2, 3, 4, etc.)

Code:
This is a catch-all thread for sketches and oekaki pieces that didn't need one thread all to their own and aren't related to a more finished piece found in the Museum. It may also be used for old work. Approximately 10 pieces per thread. Critiques are discouraged.

The Comics and Story Telling Museum Section

When the site is open, most of the publication threads will be merged with this section.

Fan Fic's: Just so you know:
  • Break them up by chapter
  • Add a "next chapter" link to the bottom IF there's more than one. Here's the image for that:

The posts should be titled like:
Fanfic: title, chapter (if applicable), and then 'by' the artist's name
So: Fanfic: Only Half by Pradaloz or Fanfic: Wistfully Yours (Ch1) by TML

Here are the images:
The font is Triforce, here: http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/fo ... iforce.ttf
The title image .psd is here: http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/fo ... _image.psd

Here's the img location for an "indent"

The simplest code for a Fanfic chapter:
Code:
[center][pagereader][/pagereader][/center]

The more complicated code for a Fanfic chapter
(Feel free to edit it in anyway that you think would be best)
:star: Note: Fanfics and Text: Italics and Bold (and most other formatting) do not copy and paste from other sources onto the forum. It's due to the fact that the forum needs it to be in BBCode. This poses a bit of a problem. The way it can be done is the text can be copied into Gmail, the formatting will show up there, and then the tags can be manually added.... but this is a pain in the butt. If anyone comes up with a better way (me included) please share.

This is an idea for "single" chapters
Example: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=493

Code:

This is an idea for "multiple" chapters
* If something isn't finished, you can have the chapters as Chapters: 1/? (Unfinished)
* But keep in mind, when you receive a new chapter of something, you'll need to go back and update the previous chapter's info and links.

Start: Have Ch1 in the title
Example: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=502
Code:
[center][pagereader][img]http://melorasworld.com/photoalbum/albums/userpics/10146/***title image's file name***[/img]

[img2table=***full url of the member's avatar image***][b][color=#BF0080]Author: [url=***author's bio url***]***name***[/url][/color][/b]
Chapter: 1/***of?***
Theme: ***delete if none given***
Setting: ***like which game***
Rating: ***maturity level?***
Pairing: ***delete if none***
Date Written: ***[/img2table]
[b]Chapter 1[/b]
[img]http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/forum_pagereader/page_break1.jpg[/img]

***enter text***

[url=***url of next chapter's thread***][img]http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/forum_pagereader/next_chapter.png[/img][/url][/pagereader][/center]

Middle Chapters: Have the Ch? in the title
Example: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=504
(This is the same except for the last lines and the "Chapters: ?/?" part. You can actually just copy the first part from the previous chapter- just remember to change the chapter number)
Code:
[center][pagereader][img]http://melorasworld.com/photoalbum/albums/userpics/10146/***title image's file name***[/img]

[img2table=***full url of the member's avatar image**][b][color=#BF0080]Author: [url=***author's bio url***]***name***[/url][/color][/b]
Chapter: ***/***of?***
Theme: ***delete if none given***
Setting: ***like which game***
Rating: ***maturity level?***
Pairing: ***delete if none***
Date Written: ***[/img2table]
[b]Chapter ***?***[/b]
[img]http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/forum_pagereader/page_break1.jpg[/img]

***enter text***

[url=***url of last chapter's thread***][img]http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/forum_pagereader/last_chapter.png[/img][/url] [url=***url of next chapter's thread***][img]http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/forum_pagereader/next_chapter.png[/img][/url][/pagereader][/center]

To Be Continued: Or, if it's not finished but it's the last chapter that we have, use this at the bottom:
Code:
[url=***url of last chapter's thread***][img]http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/forum_pagereader/last_chapter.png[/img][/url] [img]http://melorasworld.com/zelda/layout/forum_pagereader/tbc.png[/img][/center]

Last Chapter: Have the Ch? in the title
Example: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=512
(This is the same except for the last lines and the "Chapters: ?/?" part. You can actually just copy the first part from the previous chapter- just remember to change the chapter number)
Code:
[center][pagereader][img]http://melorasworld.com/photoalbum/albums/userpics/10146/***title image's file name***[/img]

[img2table=***full url of the member's avatar image**][b][color=#BF0080]Author: [url=***author's bio url***]***name***[/url][/color][/b]

Fan Comics/Doujinshi/Fan Manga

More than 3 pages:
Don't bother with it: Just mark it for me and I'll add it and do everything that needs to be done. It will need a pub_reader and only I can upload that anyway.

Stand-Alone Comics (3-4ish pages or less)
If it's a one-shot comic/very short/something you don't think would be worth putting in a pub reader- then treat it like a regular drawing. Name it normally (you know, something like melora_comic1) and upload it to a folder in the publication's album. Just add all the files as larger images to the actual thread in the forum.

Title it something like: Comic: Title by Name
Example: Comic: The Suicide Link by Aline Mendes
And just put this at the top of the thread:
Code:
[b]Artist: [url=***bio thread***]***name***[/url][/b]
Date Last Updated: ***date***

Tags:

* If one grows larger than that, like if an artist keeps making more for it, don't bother making other threads- just let me know and I'll take over: To make a pub_reader for it and convert the old thread to something more appropriate.

Sculpture, Crafts, Cosplay, and Body Art Museum
I need to give this some thought as well. I'm thinking of doing it in sets, but also like the painting museum: Basically one large image and then thumbs linking to the rest of the pictures that may be in the set.

The Wallpaper and Avatar Museum Section

Just so you know:
  • When naming wallpapers- give them an identifier (like fountain or abbreviations like lozmel) and then do _ (underscore) "file dimensions." So, for example: fountain_800x600, fountain_1024x768, fountain_1920x1200 (I tend to put the largest number in the dimensions first- though I screw up sometimes.) That way all the wallpaper variations will be grouped together, and easily found, by name on the server:http://melorasworld.com/photoalbum/albu ... ics/10148/
  • When making a thumbnail to represent a wallpaper- they should be 200 pixels wide. (Height doesn't matter.) Name it after the identifier_sample. (fountain_sample)
  • When making threads for them: I have it so that people will know when a paper is Widescreen, because a W will be before the size in a post. & when it is standard size, put an S before the size in a post.
  • When titling a wallpaper thread, list the number of different wallpapers found in the thread- but not the number of all the different sizes.
  • For wallpapers, don't bother with listing more than 3 of each size variation (unless there's a good reason.) So, don't bother with more than 3 standard sizes and 3 wide screen sizes. If people want you to list more, you can tell them it's not worth our server space and really doesn't make much of a difference. People can do their own cropping and post them lower in the thread if they want. It's not up to us to list every size known to man.
  • For wallpapers made from Fanart pieces- lock the thread and direct members to the work's main thread. Example: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=111 Also include this in the top of the post:
Quote:
Note: This is FANART made into wallpapers. To comment, or read more about any piece, please go to the work's main thread via the link posted next to the image.

Avatars
I usually title these the normal way: With the artist's name first, _, then either a small title/identifier with numbers after. You know: melora_fight01, melora_fight_02. I would put them in threads by group/set.

Use the AIMG tag for each "Avatar IMaGe": Unlike a regular IMG tag, the AIMG tag only requires the file's name. It has code that sources directly from the avatar's album. ...Which is located here: http://melorasworld.com/photoalbum/albums/userpics/10149/
* If you don't put a "space" in-between each AIMG tag: you'll be left with extra room at the end of the row.
* Avatar artists NEED to have their avatar usage/permission information in their bio thread. People need to know if, where, and how, they're allowed to use avatars~ Since, unlike wallpapers, they're usually made with the understanding that people will be using them somewhere very public.

Code:
[aimg]melora_yell0.gif[/aimg] [aimg]melora_yell1.gif[/aimg] [aimg]melora_yell2.gif[/aimg]

This is for the post-header information:
Title: Should be artist's name : "Avatars" (dimensions) identifier
Example: Melora: Avatars (100x100) The Old Set

Code:
[b]Artist: [url=***bio thread url***]***Member's Name***[/url][/b]

Usage & Permissions: Check the Artist Bio for the most current info on this.

So, there's a couple of different Avatar Table templates. I made them so you guys can pick what you think works best. Right now:

3: One is made so it's 3 100x100 images wide
Code:
[avatartable3][/avatartable3]

4: One is made so it's 4 100x100 images wide
Code:
[avatartable4][/avatartable4]

5: One is made so it's 5 100x100 images wide
Code:
[avatartable5][/avatartable5]

Modern Media..?? Need to think on this one. It might be a bit of a nightmare because there's just so many different kinds.
