Ha, just kidding, I've never taken or made money on this. Not even via ads. HOWEVER, I have a lot of serious guilt because I keep spending money on this hobby and that's taking away from things that I would donate to, causes that truly need help.
So if you felt you could spare $5, $20, etc because you like what I do and wanted to help out- then this is how you can. And if you don't have money, but you have some free time; volunteer! If you don't have the time or ability for that: promote and share and educate others on the needs that exist.
Mutual Aid:
Food pantries are a great place to start. (Monetary donations go further than food drives.) You can search for some here or look up ones based on state or country. The important thing is to get people what they need in your region. It could be funding to get people air conditioning units, it could be clean water deliveries, it could be ride services or home visits for people with disabilities. Simply give or do what you can where you know there's a need.
Domestic Animal Welfare, Exotic Pet Rescue, and Wildlife Rescue:
Please support local shelters, sanctuaries, and local animal-based mutual aid. Low or no cost spay and neuter and vet services are a great place to start. Look for local groups that help low income and houseless people with their pets and whatever they need to stay together. Look for small rescues and sanctuaries that don't have the extra money to, or choose not to, put money towards ad campaigns so more of it can reach the animals in need. Big orgs, while excellent for a lot of needs, often take up all the oxygen in a region which can mean that highly needed niche efforts struggle to obtain even the most basic of operational costs.
Conservation:
The Center for Biological Diversity and the Center for Western Priorities have a strong record for winning in court to protect wild places, animals, and bio regions. That includes marginalized communities because environmental law is more often than not intersectional law. But you may know about something more localized so please give support to things you know have a grave need.
Thank you for whatever you can give!
